The new room!

With the new baby coming we have decided to move the kids to the basement bedroom, so the baby could have the upstairs bedroom. The kids have been really excited about moving to the basement together! This move has not been an easy one for me and Darin. For the past six years that we have lived in this house, the basement room has been our: sewing, craft, junk room! It has taken us a long time to clean out the bedroom and reorganize our storage room to make room for everything else. We have only had to take two loads to the DI and we threw away a ton of stuff, but we are finally ready to move the kids downstairs! So last night we had a trial run to see how it would go.
We brought down their sleeping bags, air mattresses, stuffed animals, pillows, blankets, and books. We popped popcorn and watched a movie, and tried to make the whole experience fun!

It started out a lot of fun!

They were really excited and could barely control their excitement while we were geting everything ready! They thought it was fun, until it was time to go to bed! Then MyKelle (who is terrified of the basement and will not go downstairs without her little brother) Burst into tears. So we did everything we could to comfort her and make her feel comfortable downstairs. Gage kept trying to tell her that it was so fun and she didn't need to cry. After TWO hours of trying to calm her down, she finally feel asleep.

When they woke up this morning, I asked them how their night was and MyKelle said, "It wasn't that bad! I'm getting used to it!" What a brave little girl! Here's hopping the next time they sleep downstairs will go much better!

So funny Gage is the man being so brave :) We will be moving our kids downstairs in a few months too. They play down there all the time, even at night, so I'm praying things go smoothly!
